Chennagangappa, known for his soft and emotional films like ‘Karimaleya Kaggatalu’, ‘Nannaseya Hoove’ etc, is all set to be back with a similar film called ‘Chickamagaloora Chikka Mallige’. His previous film ‘Soundarya’ based on the land and real estate mafia, starring Ramesh and Sakshi Shivanand, failed to create ripples at the box-office. Chennagangappa has loosely based the film ‘Chickamagaloora Chikka Mallige’ on a famous story called ‘The Babus of Nayanjore’ by Rabindranath Tagore. He has carefully adapted the story according to the nativity here. ‘Chickamagaloora Chikka Mallige’ tells the story of a famous yet old landlord who once upon a time had seen glory but cannot now afford to lead life that way. He has a responsibility of marrying off his grand daughter to a suitable groom. A boy comes from the town in search of the girl. What happens next forms the crux of the film’s story. ‘Chickamagaloora Chikka Mallige’ marks the debut of Radhika Gandhi, sister of Pooja Gandhi, on the silver screen. Of course another project with Radhika in the lead, titled 'Balli', was announced, but the film didn't take off after the muhurath. ‘Chickamagaloora Chikka Mallige’ also marks the debut of Shravanth, a television anchor by profession. Veterans like C.R.Simha, Sharath Lohitashwa form the rest of the starcast. Chennagangappa had shot his previous film ‘Soundarya’ in beautiful locales in Switzerland. This time the director realized that there are enough places here which can be compared to those locales. So, he has shot the entire film in some exquisite locales of Chickamagalore, Karwar, Gokarna and other places. J.G.Krishna is the cameraman. K.Kalyan is back as the music director of the film once again. The specialty of his songs are that they are sung by Kannadigas only and that too newcomers. A couple of songs including ‘Hunnime Chandranigu’ are already a big hit with the audience. The film is scheduled to hit the theatres on the 10th of October.
